Spray Assembly
Operating Instructions
Complete Pump Assembly
Parts List

  • Rule Number One – we must respect the Fire Hall and try to keep areas as clean as possible.  Mix paint outside and test in grass SPARINGLY.  We do NOT want to abuse our privilege of storing the sprayer at the fire house.
  • Mix paint with water at least a 50:50 rate.  The thinner paint allows for less clogging at the nozzle. Note – I am testing to see if a 2:1 mix works better (the thinner the paint, the less chance of clogging)
  • Mix the paint is an empty bucket and use the wooden stick to stir well prior to pouring into the hopper – don’t assume that pouring into the hopper will mix it enough – mix it well with stirrer first, then pour. Note – call Glenn if paint inventory falls below 3 Five Gallon pails of paint (one week of inventory).
  • Bleed off excess air from the hopper prior to filling with paint – shut off CO2 tank and then use the relief valve to “bleed off” the remaining pressure in the tank.
  • Remove black pump assembly to fill hopper – you may have to loosen with a  wrench.  Carefully filling so you do NOT overfill the hopper.
  • Fill to near full – the more paint you have in the hopper, the less air you use to pressurize the tank. Use funnel when filling the hopper – line the funnel with a paint strainer and secure with the large rubber band. The strainer prevents junk from clogging up the sprayer.
  • Put pump handle assembly on the hopper and secure using a quarter turn with a wrench.
  • If you get notice the striper not delivering a solid line of paint, you may have a nozzle head clog.  Remove the nozzle, rinse the nozzle and small thimble strainer, clean and replace – you should see positive results.  If not, try again.
  • If everything is going well, you should be done in 3-4 hours… I found you use roughly a full hopper for a large field (it all depends on how fast you walk).  Plan on filling approximately 3-3.5 times for all fields.
  • Rule Number Two - When finished, try to plan your paint so that you run out on the fields – basically, use all the paint in the hopper on the fields.  When empty, fill hopper ¼ full with HOT water and spray out (in rear of fire hall) half to flush the paint from the line and nozzle.  Shut off main CO2 tank, but leave sprayer pressurized.  This will leave a CLEAN machine for the next “volunteer”.  Rinse off the machine and funnel and mixing bucket with water.  Please leave it like you would want to find it.
  • Stack empty pain buckets near trash bin outside – the firemen will discard any paint buckets at next trash pickup.  Leave one or two empty buckets for future mixing of paint.

2008 NT Middle Field Striping Schedule

Below is the field maintenance schedule for which your team is responsible for marking every field that is at Reszel, which includes the U-6 fields.  If you are unable to mark fields on your scheduled week, it is up to you to find someone to switch.
