Jerry continued with the main reason for this meeting.  Jerry appreciates the effort of all the coaching staff.  The problem begins with parents being coaches.  NUMBER 1:  All coaching staff should be CIVIL when dealing with players.  DO NOT COMMENT TO OTHER TEAM PLAYERS UNLESS IT IS IN THE SPIRIT OF GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP – POSITIVES, NO NEGATIVES.  NEGATIVE STATEMENTS TO PLAYERS AND REFEREES INCITE THE PARENTS AND PLAYERS!

NORTHTOWN TEAMS HAVE GREATLY IMPROVED THEIR PERFORMANCE OVER THE PAST YEARS AND THAT IS WHY THEY ARE RATED #1 IN POWER.  NORTHTOWN TEAMS SHOULD STRIDE FOR BEING #1 IN SPORTSMANSHIP.

Number 2:  When Northtown teams play against each other, EXERCISE GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP!  The coaching staff is responsible for being civil and demonstrating good sportsmanship.

ANY ISSUES WITH REFEREES SHOULD BE COMMUNICATED DIRECTLY WITH JERRY SULLIVAN.  ANY OTHER ISSUES RELATIVE TO SPORTSPLEX SHOULD ALSO BE COMMUNICATED WITH JERRY.  The training program is going well – do use your trainers.

·          Glenn Dolata also emphasized Jerry’s comments.    He also indicated that the Code of Ethics should be abided to by parents, coaches, and players.    He also emphasized monthly meeting attendance by team representatives so that the team players can benefit from the club provided services.

·          Glenn indicated that 20 travel teams have registered and he periodically sends out e-mails that are NOT specifically customized for the team.

·          Glenn indicated that coaches are to go on-line, the JSL web site, to complete the dual player registration.

·          On 4/15 there will be a 6-hour intermediate coaching course to be held at a Sweethome School.  Course fee is $45, which the Club will reimburse.  Further details to follow.

Fundraising:

·          Glenn indicated that this Tuesday, February 13 at the Meadow Drive Pizza Hut between 4 – 8 PM, Pizza Hut will donate 20% of your purchase to the Northtown Soccer Club.  Form on web site.

·          Information sheet provided on sponsorships to help raise money for the new soccer complex.

·          Information sheet provided for purchasing an engraved brick for the new soccer complex.

Note:  Relative to the new soccer complex the field development meeting is open to all for their support and will be meeting one hour before the monthly Club meeting.

·          Phil Bova indicated that the second weekend in June will be the chicken barbecue.  It is anticipated that another pig roast and golf outing will be fundraising events this year.

·          Ken Belote indicated that he is the musical director at Kenmore West High School.  On March 8, 9, and 10 the school will be presenting the musical “Thoroughly Modern Millie” at 7:30 PM each night.  Kenmore West will donate $1.50 from every ticket sold through Ken to the Northtowns Soccer Club.

New Business: None.

Old Business:

·          By Laws: Andy Constantino suggested that the two year terms for the board members be staggered.  The 2006 elections were for two year terms for the President, 1st and 2nd Vice Presidents, and the Treasurer.  The recording secretary is a one year term.    Nominations for the President and 2nd Vice President will be this year and the 1st Vice President will be in 2008.  This by-law change will be voted upon at the March meeting.

Meeting adjourned at 9:32 PM.

Submitted: William E. Weitz, Recording Secretary
