NORTHTOWNS SOCCER CLUB – March 9, 2006 Meeting Minutes

Attendance:   Jerry Sullivan, Don Rogers, Glenn Dolata, Frank Huber, Bill Weitz, Scott Warner, Kevin Shelley, Bruce Schmidt, Anthony DiBernardo, Kathleen Lysek,  Sue Colzo,  Mike Sexton, Sandi Cunningham, Bryan Russell,  Roger Zgolar, Mike Smith, Frank Strangio, Phil Bova, Cheryl Calkins – names from sign in sheet.

 

Meeting called to order at 7:37 PM by Jerry Sullivan.  

 

Opening Presentation:  Brandon Murphy & Chris? made presentation on a new alternative player development league/youth academy as an alternative to premier soccer that will be partnering with clubs for additional training.  Glenn has additional information on this program.

 

Reading of the February 9 meeting minutes:  One correction noted – the spaghetti dinner fundraiser at the Knights of Columbus on Grand Island is March 24 (NOT the 25th).  Meeting minutes accepted.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Don Rogers presented his monthly report.  Total checking and savings account balance for March 2006 - $23,802.79.  Deposits are made and bills are paid.  Treasurer’s report accepted.  Copies of the reports are in the meeting minute archives.

 

Travel Report:  Glenn Dolata reported the following:

  • Seventeen teams are registered.
  • Team coaches must complete the coaches pledge and to get it done.
  • Eleven coaches have their E license.  D & E license course will be in April @ the Kenan Center, information on the website.
  • DO NOT practice on fields until the second week of April.
  • Every team is responsible for setting up/laying out their own field.
  • Players can only be on one WNYJSL.
  • Specific team information can be posted on the website.
  • Glenn has dates for the summer tournament schedule.
  • Round (voted on, instead of square) patches ($1 each) can be ordered for teams for the tournaments.
  • Black & red caps with the NT logo can be ordered for $7 each.

 

House Report:  Frank Huber reported the following:

  • Let Frank know ASAP the days and times for travel team practice on the fields.
  • Strength & conditioning program presentation @ April meeting.
  • Photographer is booked for the summer program.
  • 61 children registered for the Just for Kicks Program.  175 children are registered for the summer program, registration is on line.

 

Fundraising: 

  • The raffle for the sports items will be conducted at the last indoor house game on 3/18.
  • Phil Bova will be heading up the June 10 Chicken Barbecue – Call Phil at 695-0854 – MUCH HELP WILL BE NEEDED.
  • July 22 will be the first annual adult pig roast at $25/person – further details forthcoming.
  • August 26 will be the annual, Just for Kicks Soccer Program sponsored Golf Tournament, information handed out.
  • Frank Humber’s teams will be running a hot dog trailer at the AIM tournament.
  • Summer registration costs will include the cost of lottery tickets.

 

Old Business:   None.

 

New Business:

  • Challenger Soccer Camp will be June 26 – 30 – register on-line.
  • Partnering with Dick’s Sporting Goods, receiving $8,000 of various soccer items, which will be distributed to the travel and house teams.  There will be special Dick’s shopping days.
  • There are possible opportunities for vendor stands at Bill’s games for fundraising.
