NORTHTOWNS SOCCER CLUB – March
13, 2008 meeting minutes
Board Members present:
Jerry Sullivan, Glenn Dolata, Frank Huber, Don Rogers,
and Bill Weitz.
Meeting called to order at
8:41 pm by Jerry Sullivan.
Meeting Minutes: The
reading of the February 14th meeting minutes were dispensed with and
the minutes were accepted as written.
Treasurer’s Report: Don Rogers
presented his monthly report. Total
checking and savings account balance for March 2008 is $118,418.12. As usual all bills have been paid and
deposits made. Treasurer’s report accepted.
House Report: Frank Huber reported the following:
- Just for Kicks session begins April 1.
- 300 players have registered thus far for the
summer. Flyers will be going out to
the schools.
- The winter house session ends March 22.
- On April 25 at Sportsplex from 6 PM to 10 pm will
be a house coach youth module training program.
Travel Report: Glenn Dolata reported the following:
- Team alignments are out so do NOT “blow off” to
Glenn regarding team division placement.
There are 370 teams playing.
Much thought goes into aligning the teams.
- Reminder that for U-10 teams, parents and coaches
should set an example for the children to be professional and nice.
- Each team will be paying $40 upfront to sponsor a
hole for the August Golf Tournament.
Payment of the $40 is necessary before the passes are distributed.
- The Girsh (Old Lowry
School) Field will
be lined to accommodate both older and younger teams for GAMES ONLY – NOT
TO BE USED FOR PRACTICE.
- Teams are to let Frank know what field they are
to be practicing on.
- The Challenger/British Soccer Camp for Northtowns
Teams only will be a morning and afternoon session from July 7 – 11 at the
Fairmont Park. Additional information on the website.
Fundraising:
- The Chicken Barbecue (Chef Phil Bova) will be
June 7. The objective this year is
to see 500 dinners this year compared to 300+ last year.
- The lottery tickets will be for the month of
July.
- The Golf Outing at Deerwood will be on a Sunday,
August 24. Teams are encouraged to
get prizes. Each travel team will
be charged a $40 upfront fee to sponsor a hole. Additional information is on the
website.
- The Queen City Football Club that plays at All
High Stadium will be having a Northtowns Night on June 28. Further information to follow.
New Business:
- Frank indicated that there is a new NT Schools
Athletic Director and there are plans for an addition to be built onto the
Middle School so there will be some field issues during the 2009 season.
- The Town of Pendleton
is reviewing a new 30 acre site.
- The Fraternal Order of the Eagles Club is looking
for new members – applications were made available.
- Jerry read a request from Al Caruso, “Godfather
of the Northowns Soccer Club”, has a foundation, Avanti Foundation that
purchases tickets to send physically handicapped youth to the Zoo and/or Fantasy Island, requesting assistance to
support this good cause. Further
discussion will be at the April meeting.
