Northtowns Soccer Club Meeting Minutes – April 13th, 2006

Attendance:   Jerry Sullivan, Frank Huber, Don Rogers, Glenn Dolata, Andy Constantino, John Friery, Dave McMaster, Ken Belote, Steve Gattuso, plus others per sign-in sheet

 

Meeting Called to order at 7:35pm by Jerry Sullivan, and the March minutes were approved.

 

Treasurers Report:  Don Rogers provided a summary of the Club’s cash position, which totaled $58,422.60.  All invoices are paid to date, and all recently received checks have been deposited.  The report was accepted. 

 

Guest Speaker:  John Seiler presented the outline for  a strength and conditioning program for Northtowns teams.  John is a physical education instructor at Sweet Home High School, and is a licensed strength and fitness trainer.  He is recommending training sessions of up to 30 minutes that would focus on technique, footwork, and core training.  It was confirmed that training vouchers could be used to pay for these session.  John’s phone number is 694-6684.  A link to his e-mail address can also be found at www.SHS.K12.NY.US. 

 

Travel Report:       Glenn Dolata reported the following:

·          All Coach’s pledges have been completed.

·          Field lay out and striping was discussed.  A scheduled is in place.  The high school girls lacrosse field was placed at Reszel, which is creating some problems.  Layout will be have to be done around this field.

·          A striping schedule is in place.  Teams can have this done by an outside party at a cost of $150.  Notification of this request must be made one week prior to a team’s scheduled week.

·          Hats ($7) and patches ($1/each) are now available.  Notify Glenn Dolata to arrange for payment and pickup.

·          Team banners can also be created by Bob Crooks at a cost of $15.

·          Jerry Sullivan reminded all teams to make sure players are in full uniform and that the uniforms are in good condition.  Repairs to letters and numbers an be made at Sportsplex.  It was also advised that all teams should begin to get away from last names on jerseys, which his a risk management consideration. 

House Report:  Frank Huber reported the following:

·          96 players have registered for the spring JFK session.  Three trainers, including Frank Butcher, will work with the coaches.

·          Close to 780 players are registered for the summer session, and a total of 58 teams, which is the highest in the Club’s history.

·          Tim Horton’s will sponsor teams U6 team jerseys, which will be advertised on the jerseys.  This sponsorship will result in $1,440 in cost savings.

·          There will be a youth module offered on May 11, 2006.

·          A link to training and coaching sites has been added to the web site.  Please let Frank know if there are any particular sites that should be added.

·          Carubba Collision has agreed to a $2,500 sponsorship, and Antonio’s Restaurant in Niagara Falls has committed to $250.  People are asked to think of any potential additional sponsors. 

·          A meeting is scheduled with Wheatfield on April 22, 2006 to discuss the formation of an outdoor soccer complex.  The Club has an attorney on retainer who will assist with any negotiations. 

 

Fundraising: 

·          Each travel team is asked to field a foursome for the August 26, 2006 golf outing, which will be at Deerwood.  Registration is available online.  Hole sponsorships are available for $125. 

·          The tentative date for the chicken barbeque is June 3, which is also the day of the Parochial Kickers year end tournament.  This will increase the traffic for the fundraiser. 

·          An “adults only” pig roast will be held in July.  Travel teams are asked to create a basket as a silent auction item. 

 

Old Business:       Nothing to report.

New Business:      Al Diminico added that mandatory raffle ticket or lottery, now provides close to $8,000 in profit for the Club.  Frank mentioned that the Dick’s sponsorship has run into a snag with respect to the timing.  Dicks does not want to provide the equipment/supplies until June, which is too late given the timing of the season.  Frank will continue to negotiate with Dicks, and report back to the Club.
