NORTHTOWNS SOCCER CLUB – April
10, 2008 meeting minutes
Board Members present:
Jerry Sullivan, Glenn Dolata, Frank Huber, Don Rogers,
and Bill Weitz.
Meeting called to order at
8:36 pm by Jerry Sullivan.
Meeting Minutes: The
reading of the March 13th meeting minutes were dispensed with and the minutes
were accepted as written.
Treasurer’s Report: Don Rogers
presented his monthly report. Total
checking and savings account balance as of April 10, 2008 is $138,847.04. As usual all bills have been paid and
deposits made. Treasurer’s report accepted.
House Report: Frank Huber, who was in rare form, reported
the following:
- Summer House Program registration is completed
with approximately the same number of players last year (900 +/-).
Travel Report: Glenn Dolata reported the following:
- Frank reported that all passes have been printed
and to get the passes from Glenn.
All coaches are to check their team payments, which must equal
$125. The teams are to get their
lottery tickets next month. All
team rosters have been electronically forwarded to the coaches. Julie DeMarco was recognized for getting
the printing done for the lottery and chicken barbecue tickets.
- On April 26 in Hamburg U10, 11, & 12 year old
teams have the opportunity to scrimmage at a new referee clinic.
- Coaches can register on-line for the Odenbach
tournament.
- Buffalo United Team – no B team division, August
tryouts.
- Coaches have up to June 1 to reschedule up to 2
games.
- Coaches and assistants should make sure they go
on-line to review the pledge.
- The number of dual carded players has been
reduced from 250 last year to 76 this year.
- Eric Wilson’s team will be competing for the
State Cup Competition on May 9 at 6:30 pm at the Lowry (Girsh) Field – we
wish his team great success.
- NO PRACTICING ON THE MIDDLE SCHOOL FIELDS UNTIL
GLENN NOTIFIES EVERYONE.
- April 19 & 20 will be field setup. Glenn indicated what teams and what
fields.
- Glenn requested an assistant to relieve him of
his many club responsibilities.
- There are 23 NT Club teams so coaches, parents,
and players BE NICE during competition!
- British Soccer Camp brochures were handed out
after the meeting.
- Reminder that before the teams receive their
passes Glenn must receive $40 from each team that goes to the Golf
Tournament Fundraiser.
- Two NT teams have dropped after signing up, which
has cost the Club monies. It is
important to have continuous team playing during the year, both outside
and indoors to maintain player interest.
- Frank will be posting the field matrix on-line as
to practice and field assignments.
- Check with Frank regarding any uniform needs, he
is deleting his stock. Teams and
coaches should look their part as to Club affiliation.
Fundraising:
- The Chicken Barbecue (Chef Phil Bova) will be
June 7 from 10:30 AM to 2 PM.
Pre-sale ticket pricing is $8 and after June 1 ticket pricing will
be $9. The objective is to sell
500 dinners. Volunteers are needed. Donations are accepted and greatly
appreciated to reduce costs and increase profits to the Club. Dave DeFrank has donation cards.
- The lottery tickets will be for the month of
July.
- The Golf Outing at Deerwood will be on a Sunday,
August 24. Teams are encouraged to
get prizes. Each travel team will
be charged a $40 upfront fee to sponsor a hole. Additional information is on the
website. Glenn reiterated the
importance of sponsors and the cost per person is $85 to participate.
- The Queen City Football Club that plays at All
High Stadium will be having a Northtowns Night on June 28.
New Business:
- Dave DeFrank indicated him and his wife are
coordinating a Darien
Lake Day for July
29. Frank will post on website.
Old Business:
- Jerry read a request from Al Caruso, “Godfather
of the Northowns Soccer Club”, has a foundation, Avanti Foundation that
purchases tickets to send physically handicapped youth to the Zoo and/or Fantasy Island, requesting assistance to
support this good cause. Further
discussion will be at the April meeting.
The Club voted on a donation of $500, which was approved.
